would love to make a short trip for home stay  with a russian family,

I recommend that you get in touch with local Russian Orthodox churches.  There are couple of points to consider.  A Normal Russian family with children would never take anyone off the street to stay with them without some type of references through a reputable organization.  There are way too many crazy people out there.... at the same token, you want to make sure that you are stying with reputable people who are recommended by some legitimate organization...  There are way too many crazy people out there ;)

Best way to arrange a home stay is through a russian church organization.   Here are two:

Seventh Day Adventist Church

Cleveland, Tennessee.                            Large Russian/Ukrainian Community in Cleveland.  Not as many as Atlanta

 

Slavic Evangelical Church
