what's brand of watch you wear right now?
Dude, relax, wasn't anything personal, couldn't care less what you wear or how you get laid, or who you are, for that matter - I was expressing my opinion, which is that these watches are cheap-ass and good for an average guy who doesn't know better. WTF is Mokba anyway?

Alex, you said that “Something about them is fascinating, the fine craftsmanship I guess.”
I think, you do not like fine craftsmanship of watch; you just like the prestige that those very expensive brands represent. You are just a snob, and to lecture people about what is for whom… - we all read “New York Times” and see the advertisements.
I hope you were joking, when you said that a life is a success if you have one of those brands on your wrist.
Well, let’s discuss diamonds? What is for beginners?

I'm single, so thoughts of sex cross my mind every 9 seconds. When irritated, they get intermingled with whatever topic is irritating me.
Alex - why is it cheap-ass? How much do I have to spend to not be a cheap ass? How many people spend $1,000 to $5,000 on watches (do some research)? Tell me what watch, for $350, is not cheap ass? Or what is the minimum (with watch recommendations) I have to spend to not be a cheap ass? If you are going to take a stand like that - back it up with facts. Otherwise, it's just condescending nonsense. What are the prices and models for the brand names you mentioned above? We can either turn this discussion into a positive, or hurl insults. I'd rather learn something -but don't just call it 'cheap-ass'.
II - what part of Germany did you grow up in? I spent a few years in Kaiserslautern.

I think you guys are jumping the gun here...Alex is just a watch connoisseur and he stated his opinion. His remark to Tarzan ("life is a success if you have one of those brands..") is just a common English language expression along the lines of, "oh, you must be doing well for yourself to afford that!" - really, it was just a friendly compliment, or a head-nod regarding Tarzan's choice of watch. Someone here read WAY too much into that statement...
Furthermore, Alex said that he actually has a lower-priced Casio watch, and that he hasn't afforded himself the luxury of a status symbol watch, so all of your accusations don't even make sense.
Seriously, all of you haters - pretty pathetic. Just because someone likes nice cars or nice watches doesn't mean anything - if you actually really studied psychology you'd know that to make such judgments you'd need a lot more information that hasn't been made available so far in this instance.
By the way, the first time I got a job making over $30K (back in '99), with the first paycheck I bought myself a Breitling Quartz Ocean. So let's all post my psych profile based on that now...

ok, let's all step back and be nice.
I'm happy if Alex is a watch connoisseur - I just don't agree with calling a $350 watch cheap-ass. And then saying I don't know any better for not spending a grand.
but yeah, this topic has degenerated into nonsense. I would still like my watch questions answered by a connoisseur.

Hehe, you voice a discriminating opinion about something you enjoy and know a bit about as a personal interest of sort, and you get psycho-analyzed, called a snob and such. After all, life is about making choices, some more selective, some less, personal preference. Someone carefully picks what he eats or cooks, discussing varieties of food selections and ingredients, others meditate over living room audio speakers and their quality, and so on. Seriously, recently, reading about outdoor grills and reading reviews I stumbled upon a whole sub-culture of steak lovers and fierce discussions over how to cook a perfect steak with pictures and detailed recipes. By the way, everyone agrees that you should sear it at extremely high temperature for a minute or two and then cook on lower for a while, then let it rest for about 30 minutes, and you have a most beautiful medium-rare steak. Something I learned on these forums, had no clue before - come on, how hard can it be to cook a piece of meat, right :) Threads and threads of discussions, arguments, theories, fascinating. BTW, restaurant-quality infrared grills are the way to go and is now in reach of common people's budget, check out http://www.charbroil.com/tec/
In any case, not to get carried away with other stuff - point is that different people have different subjects they enjoy and discriminate at, having above-average knowledge and fascination, call it being a snob or whatever. And, if you have an opinion about it, don't see why you shouldn't express it and call things cheap-ass when they are :)
And no, your success is definitely not defined by what you wear on your wrist, but your taste sure is ;) Look at Bush with his American flag Timex, and Putin with a Patek Philippe masterpiece.
It's not about New York Times ads either, fine Swiss timepieces are assembled manually by highly skilled masters (instead of a conveyor-belt), and carry his "soul" and craftsmanship, it's a piece of art, really, especially those with complications, tourbillon escapements and every smallest piece polished and assembled with stunning accuracy.
That said, you have to know that even the most expensive and well-known Swiss (or German, like A.Lange & Sohne, in Tarzan's case) watches are all far less accurate than a cheapest Seiko or Casio with soulless but dead-precise quartz movement :) Point is - it's not really a timepiece, but a fascinating piece of art that also happens to show time more or less precisely (up to 2 to 3 seconds a week fluctuation), part due to gravity (that's where tourbillon matters, but that's a whole different story) :)
So, chill out, wear Tommy Bahama and be happy, it's Friday after all. I admit I don't know much about shoes (at least for now), so can't advise much on what to wear to get laid :) You know better. Diamonds, other than the usual 4 C's don't know much, but I had a friend who was a gemmologist, was fun to listen to him at times :)

Neat, solid, sporty, trendy :) The T-Touch?
BTW, James, you being one cool hip playa, get a Panerai, it'll work better than you shoes, trust me. THE clubber-hipster urban watch with a distinct unmistakable look that only Panerai has - with a strong sophisticated young follower crowd.
