I've been doing some research cuz frankly, my knowledge of European Geography was a bit lacking. Here is what I have learned:
European Russia is not a separate country, but rather the far western end of the Russian Federation. Most modern atlases and geography experts consider this landmass politically and geographically part of the continent of Europe. The Russian Federation's established dividing line between Asia and Europe are the Ural Mountains
Here is the official list of European countries (though not necessarily part of the EU):

Intersting that when you break down UK by country and add them all up it's about the same number of 'states' as the USA. Its the United States of Europe -though a few thousand years of ongoing blood fueds between some countries.
