What a juicy thread!! It was hidden behind a Russian subject line (glad I peeked). I can't believe y'all have fallen into more of those horrible Russian/American generalizations. You should enjoy living the Int'l Life. I am curious about one thing though - and maybe you can help me understand this.... Russian women are always talking about LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, and romance/marriage - all that stuff. Russian women are supposed to be more learned in arts/culture/literatue - which soften the heart. And yet the Russian women I know are divorced, and have been a little cold-hearted (very strong inside). It's probably just me. Thoughts?? "Hopeless in Atlanta"

I am not Russian but since I'm Married to a Russian Women I think I have a good perception on this. Judging from my wife and her friends I would have to say that yes, in my own personal experience Russian women are very cold in some areas. Do not get me wrong however, my lovely Margarita is also one of the most passionate and loving women I have ever known. It's just her ability of self expression is hard to access. She, like many other Russians I have been with seems to severe many ties with their emotions. Their outlook is cold and pessimistic and it seems that they blame everyone but themselves for their current situation. My wife and her friends seem to be very close minded yet extremely determined and strong willed. I would say intelligent but to me intelligence is a form of being open minded and logical as well. Looking down on others because they are not white and keeping an abundance of hatred in your heart is not very smart to my way of understanding. Just the other day Margarita was telling me how she could never stand to see Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama to be president. The reasons were self evident from her point of view; her friends seemed to concur with this. However they had no logical understanding of the candidate’s current positions or their stated desires for change. This seems to me fool hardy. It's also with great irony and humor that I see Russians saying Americans are stupid as a general rule of thumb. Then they come over hear and act like some of the dumbest Americans in History. More of them join the Republican Party and represent the portion of our country that voted for Bush, (the most idiotic portion I might add). I could go on forever on this vibe but there are so many things I love about Russia and despise about many Americans that I do not want any of you to get the wrong impression of me or of my perceptions. Nope, not me, James. New guy. My Ukrainian lady could stubborn the bark off a tree. I have NEVER seen a woman more stubborn. Something about being raised by her Ukrainian soldier/father, gotta be. One day, she got mad at me and was gonna walk home instead of ride with me. Now... walking home from our work is about..... oh 20 miles or so. She didn't care..... I picked her up about a mile from the store... : ) She is stubborn, but not dumb... : ) Something else too. She can be COLD. When she is mad, oh MY GOD. By the way, it AIN'T NO FAIR TO BE CHEWED OUT IN RUSSIAN, especially when you don't speak it. Reading some of the things said here about Russian women is giving me some comfort in this area. But, I have never met a more loving woman in my whole life. And on the whole, wouldn't trade her for anything or anyone. She has my whole heart. James that's hilarious, yes indeed Russian Love is very addictive. I can understand your predicament perfectly. You have to be very strong willed yet flexable and most importantly adaptable to stay with a Russian women worth keeping. I noticed one thing above all, at least for my wife and that is, if I do not keep her mentally interested and intrigued I run the risk of losing her love. Physical contact is important for her but she needs mental stimulation from me. I am currently convincing her of the existence of spirit. If I was even remotely religious I do not think this would be possible, however since I am a spiritualist and anything within everything is possible as I perceive it. I have her focus on her simple being ness and she is starting to see what I mean. Once you still the incessant chatter of the mind which is like a sickness that plagues us all... We can then hear the spirit of the Cosmos speaking to us not through words but through feelings and sense, this I call inspiration. A word of caution however, if you ever let a Russian women dominate you, you will never be able to stay with her. Bending and breaking or two very different things, give ground but remain firm. Seriously, I am not up for working THAT hard. I have found this to be true also. It seems she won't respect me if I back down and don't remain firm when I feel I am right. Bend, yes, but don't break. I'm that way generally anyway, so it is normal. Always judge others by the same standards as you would want them to judge you

mk - I appreciate your input too! I honestly felt like I was walking on eggshells with my Russian girlfriend. This woman was in complete control of herself, mentally and emotionally. I wouldn't write about her if I thought she visited this site - after a year here, I can finally 'come out'. lol Now, I have never met any American woman that is THAT in control of herself. So I completely understand what you mean about this whole mental gymanstics thing. This was no ordinary woman, but I was no ordinary man. She won. I'm ruined. The American women that I would talk to about her...hated her. Probably from jealousy, but also from seeing how easily I could be manipulated by somebody that was THAT in control of herself and the relationship. I was sooooo whipped. Honestly, I am fascinated by Russian culture...I can't put my finger on it...but even on this website there is a constant 'push/pull' tug-of-war and y'all are constantly engaged in what I will call a mental game of chess. Yes, love is a holy thing but like all holy things it must be maintained, how should I say it hmmmmm... You must face the darkness before you can be enveloped by the bliss of light. Therefore when you’re with a woman it is your job the purge the darkness from both you and her! I get so tired of having to smooth things out with her every time but I do it anyway because I know that she never will, at least most of the time. James, you need to find what you believe in and fight for it with an open mind and unlimited patience and understanding. My belief is very easy to defend and pretty much do anything I desire with since it is an unlimited nature of love that has no limits. My dear Margarita use to call me naive but I told her that is history has ever shown us one thing it is this... Just because it has not happened in the past does not mean it won't or can't happen in the Now! You will always have your nay Sayers but as with all things, those who fear the unknown succumb to their own ignorance. With this note, even someone as open minded and strong willed as myself has a hard time dealing with these Russian terrors, lol. Sometimes it seems they just want to get smacked :) (Just kidding, but serious at the same time.) How I deal with this increadible strain on my patience is the way I look at it. No one in all the world could qualify to test my patience like this Russian women that I know and love. Therefore all the trials and woes she throes upon me serve only to strengthen my charachter and add flavor to my personality. If I ever leave her, (GOD FORBID) I will have so much patience and understanding that no Amercian women will be able to resist my charm and Charisma MAUAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA.
