    ShEV:

Kostya, we are signed up for BestRussianTv.com - several months already. They have been great at first, then lately had some buffering and freezing issues, but just posted an anouncement that all those are fixed. Claimed that the issue had to do with their sattelite reception.

I was also subscribed to BestRussianTV.com (previously known as Torontovka TV) for several months.  Then, I had some technical problems, which I finally resolved to a problem with MTU setting on a router.  BestRussianTV support was very responsive to all my questions, but they could not determine exactly what was the reason of my connectivity problem with their feeds.  But the main reason I suspended the service is that watching TV on computer requires too much work, as opposed to just turning it on.  I also miss TiVo functionality to record and skip commercials.

I was able to stream russian video feeds from BestRussianTV to XBOX 360, but that required that I setup a computer to transcode the video to appropriate format.  I found that TVersity works great in this case.  (http://tversity.com) This software supports many brands of media players (including ony Playstation 3, XBOX 360, DLINK DSM, Nokia Internet Tablet, etc.)  It worked about 50% of the time with BestRussianTV.  I am not sure where the problem was exactly.

    TallSally:
I have Comcast and very happy with the service and price, can we add Direct TV (russian and japanese channels) or that's impossible from technical point of view?

It's possible, but you're not really adding it to Comcast.  You are subscribing to DirecTV satellite service in addition to Comcast.  Most TVs will allow you to hook-up multiple receivers at once.  On DirecTV you can just order Russian and Japanese Packages and not the basic service, but to get the most promotional offers (like free installation, free equipment, free HD-DVR, etc.) you might consider subscribing to basic packae + international channels for 1 or 2 years.  It might be cheaper overall.

Check out TV link on the top of the page to see what Russian channels are available from DirecTV.

     Kostya,

What if we move to a different state as it looks possible (within the contract time)?

You can transfer your DirecTV subscription to another state without problem.  You might run into termination clause if you are unable to have DirecTV service in your new location.

DirecTV can waive the termination fees if they cannot install satellite in a new location, but it's a risk.

audio cable that goes from basic LapTop audio Out (same you use for headphones) to the TV Video In. Special cable, also found online - they were sold as a pack... Try searching for something like "cables to connect laptop to TV" - I think this is what I typed.

    Re: Russian TV over Internet

Dufferin

    Re: Russian TV over Internet

    AtlantaMan,

Are you using their TV-top box to watch Russian TV on regular TV from bestrussiantv?  They don't have any information on their website.  How easy is it to use media portal?

I used to subscribe to them a while ago, but disconnected since watching TV on computer takes too much effort.

    Thanks for you feedback.

    Re: Russian TV over Internet

I heard good feedbacks about nashdomtv.com and larutv.com. Both offer set top box and online signal. Take a look at those.
