    Re: government checks

Ribochka, I am incapable of what you define as "anger" in a situation like this.  I just try limit smiley face useage because I hate them, but I am having to use them on the forum for obvious reasons..

I don't really disagree with what you just wrote here.  If you are saying that the economy is fine "in spite" of the fed, that is not a defense for them.  Its a criticism.  The economy is fine because of the free market, to the extent that it remains that way.  Regulation is not intended to improve things that already work, it is intended to fix what doesn't, without breaking what does.

What the fed currently considers to be its mission is a mystery, and a subject of many disagreements.  The problem is they are smarter than the elected officials who they are supposed to be reporting to, so they are allowed to screw around all they want.  Chairmen come and go, all with different economic backgrounds and strategies.  They need to outline a mission, go back to the basics, and do their jobs.  Let what works take care of itself.

    Re: government checks

I understand....  I am not particularly crazy about various government officials living off my tax dollars screwing up, but...  most of the people who work in the US government would have never survived in an ordinary corporate situation.  Since I worked for both the government and the corporate America, I can say that from my personal experience.  Corporations and government value completely different sets of skills and qualities in their employees...

Lets look on the positive side:  If there were no government jobs for such screw-ups as members of the Fed, the unemployment rate would be SOOO much higher  I sleep well at night knowing that somewhere some inept *** is running my government and NOT my company :)
