    Do You Know A Lawyer?

Okay...  we give up.  Can any of you recommend to Natasha and I a Ukrainian/Russian lawyer familiar with Ukrainian law?   Specifically, we need a lawyer who can assist us in obtaining Ukrainian passports and can negotiate the mysterious and sinister maze called Ukrainian law.

    Any recommendations?

I can't give a recommendation, I have not referred to any lawyers ever :); I just know that Milana is Russian, and she is an attorney. So why not to call her...

Thanks Mouse,   I will call but I am hoping for a Ukrainian lawyer if there is one.   Still, this one may be able to tell me who to call.

    Anyone else?

sorry, don't know any ukrainian lawers but I just can't help but ask: why would you need ukrainian passportS? Is it just for your wife (to renew hers) or you decided to get Ukrainian citizenship as well? The word passportS really got my curiosity up...I know, I know curiosity killed the cat but, hey, I am a bird (sort of) Smile

Re: Do You Know A Lawyer?

    karkusha,  I will explain

When Natasha immigrated in 2002, her children were 11 and 13 and both on her passport.  Now they are 17 & 19 and we need these passports for them to travel as well as for immigration needs.

We have been advised by the Ukrainian embassy in Washington DC that one of the requirements of getting a Ukrainian passport for these two is that their natural father back in Ukraine must sign a document saying he will not hold his children responsible for caring for him in his old age.  We have a document where he signed away all his parental rights and let his children leave Ukraine back in 2002.

We need a lawyer to help us either convince the Ukrainian embassy they should give us passports or a lawyer who will help us acquire this necessary document for father in Kiev (if he can still be located).

Hence, why we need a lawyer familiar with Ukrainian law.
