What are you asking, Green?  Why people choose to pursue success/personal gains by compromising their inner self, morals and ethics?  

It's simple... one morning you wake up and realize that you can't live in the clouds.  Got bills to pay, family to feed.  Gotta make a living, and the living is more and more expensive

In the end, the number of things I was able to buy would pale in comparison to being able to live with myself and sleep at night (as much as a chronic insomniac ever sleeps, anyway).

A person who posess an advanced skill of consciosness can live more intensive, 2, 5 or maybe 10 times more intensive than people usually do. If you can argue that it is an improvement, couldn't I say THAT is selling  your life? 

We all have freedom of choice.  Don't assume people make them incorrectly.

Why is it that the people pretending to be the most open-minded, are in reality - the most narrow-minded?  Everything has to be done your way?

If he is merely saying that he doesn't find it necessary to sacrifice principles and ethics (or even that he doesn't understand why some people have no qualms about it), I don't see how that makes him narrow-minded. 

If that isn't what he is saying... Well, if that isn't it, then I don't know what he is saying and, therefore, have no opinion.
